For most powder coating producers, titanium dioxide is the most expensive raw material on the formulation bill. A single line consuming 8 tons of rutile TiO₂ per month is not unusual — and every price swing on the TiO₂ market hits the bottom line directly.
T166 sub-titanium powder is engineered specifically to ease that pressure. It is a functional white pigment designed to replace 15–20% of rutile TiO₂ in powder coating formulations while preserving whiteness and hiding power. The economic case is straightforward: at typical TiO₂ prices, replacing 15–20% of TiO₂ with T166 can save several thousand USD per ton of finished powder — a meaningful margin lift for any mid- to high-volume producer.

The product has already been adopted in real production. One of our powder coating customers, consuming roughly 8 tons of TiO₂ per month, has approved T166 for a 15–20% replacement trial and is currently running internal procurement for an initial 1-ton sample order. A second customer in the hardware and appliance powder coating segment, running about 10 tons of TiO₂ per month, is testing T166 in parallel with T366A to combine cost reduction with improved hardness.
Choosing between T166 and T366A:

In oil-based industrial paints, T166 has shown it can go further — replacement ratios of up to 30% have been reported with acceptable performance.
We recommend starting trials at 15% replacement, checking whiteness and hiding power, and only scaling to 20% once the formulation is stable. For the most reliable results, T166 is often paired with T366A.
